Ahmadinejad: Iran, Syria to Create New World Order Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday said that Iran and Syria have a common responsibility to create a New World Order based upon servitude to God, justice, and humanity. Iran's semiofficial Mehr news agency reported that Ahmadinejad said, during his meeting in Tehran with Syrian Speaker Mahmoud al-Abrash, that "the world is heading toward major developments and the unjust world order is heading to demise." Ahmadinejad stressed "the importance of the roles of Iran and Syria during the current crucial circumstances and the need to boost cooperation and mutual planning." "The Iranian-Syrian resistance front is at the brink of victory," added Ahmadinejad. "The resistance of the (world) peoples, among them the peoples of Iran and Syria, has brought the Istikbar (arrogance) regimes to a dead end in terms of the various political, economical, military, and cultural fields." Ahmadinejad considered that "the separation barrier in the occupied (Palestinian) territories and the metallic wall on Gaza's borders signal the weakness of the Zionist state, and the U.S. has also to end its interventions in the region and withdraw its military forces." On his part, al-Abrash said that "developing relations and cooperation among the Muslim nations, including Iran and Syria, thwarts the conspiracies of the enemies." "The strategic ties that connect between Tehran and Damascus have a positive effect in the region," added al-Abrash. Tehran, SANA – Speaker of Syrian People's Assembly Mahmoud al-Abrash has hailed the deep-rooted relations between Syria and Iran, saying that bilateral cooperation serves the interests of both countries and the region. Al-Abrash's remarks came during his meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Tehran on Thursday. "Cooperation in the field of parliamentary affairs will contribute to developing common cooperation." Al-Abrash said. The Iranian President, in turn, described as " strong and friendly" the Syrian-Iranian relations, saying that " both countries should make use of the great available capabilities to expand cooperation prospects between the two countries". "Relations of the two peoples and governments are strong and parliaments of the two countries could play an effective role in enhancing these relations and serve their joint interests." He added. Israel Drops Warning Leaflets over Gaza Israeli planes on Thursday dropped thousands of leaflets over the Gaza Strip warning residents to stay clear from the border after Palestinian militants fired mortar shells into Israel. The letters, which were dropped over northern Gaza and Gaza City, warned residents not to get within a range of 300 meters from the heavily secured border with Israel. "Anyone who gets closer than this will be in danger," the leaflet read in Arabic. Palestinian militants earlier fired a salvo of more than five mortar shells that fell near the Israeli community of Kerem Shalom, causing no casualties or damage, an army spokesman said.
