SD Test

These questions are not intended to measure the level of your knowledge, but rather to indicate your ability to deal with real life troubleshooting tasks.
So you should use any materials you can find (Google, MS Knowledge base, MSDN, ask friends, forums etc.)
We will ask additional questions based on what you have answered.

Questions

1) Calling conventions in Microsoft C. cdecl, stdcall etc... What are they and what they do?
2) Write a vbscript file that takes file from c:\temp\test.dll and copies it to
D:\app\com\test.dll. If the file exists and it’s version and creation time are different than the copied file then overwrite it. Please take into account all cases.
For example if file is locked, file is loaded by executable etc… Also make sure that the script returns value (Exit code). For success it will be 1 for failure 0
This should be production code so there should be error handling. We will run the program you hand in – so please make sure it works!
3) What is vernel32.dll in WINNT and when is it needed when using Performance Monitor?

5) What is SoftIce?
6) Which backup software would you use in software development company with ~50 users and with SourceSafe source control. What would you back up?
For software choose at least 2 alternative software packages and compare between them.
7) What is NAT in TCP/IP networking? When and why is it used?
