President Ahmadinejad arrives home

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad returned home from New York on Sunday evening.

He led a high-ranking delegation to New York on a five-day visit to attend the 60th regular session of the UN General Assembly.

Upon arrival at Tehran Mehrabad Airport, the chief executive was welcomed by the head of the Supreme Leader's Office Mohammadi Golpayegani, First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi and a number of government and military officials.

During his stay in New York which started on September 13, the president met dozens of heads of states and senior officials from various countries and discussed matters of mutual concern.

Meanwhile, Ahmadinejad delivered speeches at the UN General Assembly and briefed the participants on Iran's views and approach to various issues.

Development, alleviating poverty, disarmament, campaign against weapons of mass destruction and terrorism, human rights and the UN reform were among the issues high on the agenda of the three-day World Summit.

Speaking to reporters at the airport, the president explained the result of his first foreign mission.

He termed his New York mission as "heavy" and said that he conveyed message of Iranian nation to the international community
