The following are quotes from the Koran about war, fighting, and the relationship and treatment of Unbelievers. (Note: Verse numbering is slightly different from one translation to another.)
2:111-112 And they say: "None shall enter Paradise unless he be Jew or a Christian." Those are their (vain) desires. Say: "Produce your proof if ye are truthful." Nay, —whoever submits his whole self to Allah and is a doer of good, —he will get his reward with his Lord; on such shall they grieve.
2:216 Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.
2:190-193 Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors. And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for tumult or oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith. But if they cease, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah; but if they cease, let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression.
2:216 Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.
3:28 Let not the Believers take for friends or helpers unbelievers rather than believers: If any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: Except by way of precaution, that ye may guard yourselves from them. But Allah cautions you (to remember) Himself; for the final goal is to Allah.
3:69-71 It is the wish of a section of the People of the Book to lead you astray. But they shall lead astray (not you), but themselves, and they do not perceive! Ye People of the Book! Why reject ye the Signs of Allah, of which ye are (yourselves) witnesses? Ye People of the Book! Why do ye clothe Truth with falsehood, and conceal the Truth, while ye have knowledge?
3:85 If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good).
3:149 Section 16. O ye who believe! If ye obey the Unbelievers, they will drive you back on your heels, and ye will turn back (from Faith) to your own loss.
3:169-173 Think not of those who are slain in Allah’s way as dead. Nay, they live, finding their sustenance in the Presence of their Lord; They rejoice in the Bounty provided by Allah: And with regard to those left behind, who have not yet joined them (in their bliss), the (Martyrs) glory in the fact that on them is no fear, nor have they (cause to) grieve. They glory in the Grace and the Bounty from Allah, and in the fact that Allah suffereth not the reward of the Faithful to be lost (in the least). Section
4:18 Of those who answered the call of Allah and the Apostle, even after being wounded, those who do right and refrain from wrong have a great reward; — Men said to them: "A great army is gathering against you": And frightened them: But it (only) increased their Faith: They said: "For us Allah sufficeth, and He is the best disposer of affairs."
4:84 Then fight in Allah’s cause—thou art held responsible only for thyself—and rouse the Believers. It may be that Allah will restrain the fury of the Unbelievers; for Allah is the strongest in might and in punishment.
4:95 Not equal are those Believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who [jihad] strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who [Jihad] strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward, —
4:104 And slacken not in following up the enemy: If ye are suffering hardships, they are suffering similar hardships; but ye have hope from Allah, while they have none. And Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.
4:150-151 Those who deny Allah and His apostles, and (those who) wish to separate Allah from His apostles, saying: "We believe in some but reject others": And (those who) wish to take a course midway, — They are in truth (equally) Unbelievers; and We have prepared for Unbelievers a humiliating punishment.
5:36 The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Apostle, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: Execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: That is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;
5:54 O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.
8:12 Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: Give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: Smite ye above their necks and smite all their fingertips off them."
8:16-17 If any do turn his back to them on such a day—unless it be in a stratagem of war, or to retreat to a troop (of his own) —he draws on himself the wrath of Allah, and his abode is Hell, —an evil refuge (indeed)! It is not ye who slew them; it was Allah: When thou threwest (a handful of dust), it was not thy act, but Allah’s: In order that He might test the Believers by a gracious trial from Himself: For Allah is He Who heareth and knoweth (all things).
8:39 And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that they do.
8:60 Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom Allah doth know. Whatever ye shall spend in the Cause of Allah, shall be repaid unto you, and ye shall not be treated unjustly.
8:65 O Apostle! Rouse the Believers to the fight. If there are twenty amongst you, patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred: If a hundred, they will vanquish a thousand of the Unbelievers: For these are a people without understanding.
8:74-75 Those who believe and migrated from their homes and {Jihad] fought for the Way of Allah, and those who have sheltered them and helped them they are truly the believers. Theirs shall be forgiveness and a generous provision. And those who believed afterwards and emigrated, and {Jihad] struggled with you -- they are of you. And in the Book of Allah, the near kinsmen deserve one another (in inheritance). Allah has knowledge of all things.
9:3 And an announcement from Allah and His Apostle, to the people (assembled) on the day of the Great Pilgrimage, —that Allah and His Apostle dissolve (treaty) obligations with the Pagans. If, then, ye repent, it were best for you; but if ye turn away, know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah. And proclaim a grievous penalty to those who reject Faith.
9:5 But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
9:29 Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Apostle, nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.
9:39 Unless ye go forth [in battle], He will punish you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place; but Him ye would not harm in the least. For Allah hath power over all things.
9:41 Go ye forth, (whether equipped) lightly or heavily, and strive and struggle, with your goods and your persons, in the Cause of Allah. That is best for you, if ye (but) knew.
9:44 Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day will not ask your permission so that they may {Jihad] struggle with their wealth and their selves. Allah knows best the righteous.
9:73 O Prophet! [Jihad] Strive hard against the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell, —an evil refuge indeed.
9:86-88 Whenever a chapter is sent down, saying 'Believe in Allah and [Jihad] struggle with His Messenger,' the rich among the asked you to excuse then, saying, 'Leave us with those who are to stay behind.' There were content to be with those who stayed behind, a seal was set upon their hearts, so they do not understand. But the Messenger and those who believed with him [Jihad] struggle with their wealth and their selves. For them awaits goodness and those are the winners.
9:111 Allah hath purchased of the Believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the Garden (of Paradise): They fight in His Cause and slay and are slain: A promise binding on Him in Truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Koran: And who is more faithful to his Covenant than Allah? Then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: That is the achievement supreme.
9:123 O ye who believe! Fight the Unbelievers who gird you about, and let them find firmness in you: And know that Allah is with those who fear Him.
16:110 But verily thy Lord, —to those who leave their homes after trials and persecutions, —and who thereafter strive and fight for the Faith and patiently persevere, —thy Lord, after all this is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful
25:52 Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness, with the (Koran).
17:15 Who receiveth guidance, receiveth it for his own benefit: Who goeth astray doth so to his own loss: No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another: Nor would We visit with Our Wrath until We had sent an apostle (to give warning).
25:52 Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but [Jihad] strive against them with the utmost strenuousness, with the (Koran).
29:5 For those whose hopes are in the meeting with Allah (in the Hereafter, let them strive); for the term (appointed) by Allah is surely coming: And He hears and knows (all things).
29:69 Those who [Jihad] struggle in Our cause, We will surely guide them to Our ways, and Allah is with those who do good.
35:6 Verily Satan is an enemy to you: So treat him as an enemy. He only invites his adherents, that they may become Companions of the Blazing Fire.
47:4 Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; at length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): Thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): But if it had been Allah’s Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the way of Allah, —He will never let their deeds be lost.
48:17 No blame is there on the blind, nor is there blame on the lame, nor on one ill (if he joins not the war): But he that obeys Allah and His Apostle, —(Allah) will admit him to Gardens beneath which rivers flow; and he who turns back, (Allah) will punish him with a Grievous Penalty.
48:29 Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah; and those who are with him are strong against Unbelievers, (but) compassionate amongst each other. Thou wilt see them bow and prostrate themselves (in prayer), seeking Grace from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure. On their faces are their marks, (being) the traces of their prostration. This is their similitude in the Taurat; and their similitude in the Gospel is like a seed which sends forth its blade, then makes it strong; it then becomes thick, and it stands on its own stem, (filling) the sowers with wonder and delight. As a result, it fills the Unbelievers with rage at them. Allah has promised those among them who believe and do righteous deeds Forgiveness, and a great Reward.
49:15 The believers are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger and have not doubted, and who [Jihad] struggle in His Way with their possessions and themselves. Such are those who are truthful.
60:1 Believers, do not take My enemy and your enemy for your guides, offering them love when they have disbelieved the truth that has come to you, who expel the Messenger and yourselves because you believe in Allah, your Lord! If you go out to [Jiahd] struggle in My way seeking My pleasure, but secretly love them, I know well what you conceal and what you reveal; whosoever of you does this will have gone astray from the Right Path.
61:11-13 That ye believe in Allah and His Apostle, and that ye [Jihad] strive (your utmost) in the Cause of Allah, with your property and your persons: That will be best for you, if ye but knew! He will forgive you your sins, and admit you to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, and to beautiful Mansions in Gardens of Eternity: That is indeed the supreme Achievement. And another (favor will He bestow), which ye do love, —help from Allah and a speedy victory. So give the Glad Tidings to the Believers. 66:9 O Prophet! [Jihad] Strive hard against the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell—an evil refuge (indeed).
