באשכול קודם הזכרנו קצת את השת"פ בין גורמים לבנונים לצבא הסורי,אז-כך:

גורמים בחיזבאללה ובמודיעין הלבנוני טוענים שיש לסורים זכות לחדור לשטח לבנון עפ"י הסכם שלא בכתב לאחר הנסיגה הסורית ב2005,לעומתם גורמים באופוזיציה שוללים את האפשרות הזו שהסכם כזה אכן "סוכם",צבא לבנון עושה הרבה "סלטות" אך נמנע מכל פעולה אפקטיבית,שיא הוויכוח נסוך סביב חטיפתם של אזרחים סורים בביירות בשיתוף עם גורמים מהבטחון-פנים הלבנוני.
