לפי הלבנונים מדובר במתקן-נפץ מתוחכם שאמור היה להתפרש ככשל טכני במעלית.

Advanced technology that has never before been used was employed in the assassination attempt against MP Butros Harb, reported al-Joumhouria newspaper on Friday. A security source told the newspaper that the explosive that was removed from the elevator shaft could have been placed in a manner that made it difficult to detect. Police found the device in the elevator shaft of the building that lies in Badaro district’s Sami Solh Street a few hours after the suspect carrying a knife was subdued but managed to escape along with two accomplices.

Mahmoud Hayek, the suspect in the assassination attempt against MP Butros Hard, refused to appear before the investigative bodies because he is a member of Hizbullah’s security apparatus, according to the lawmaker and some security sources Saturday. Harb said that a car plate number was found inside the bag carried by the suspect when he tried to booby trap the top of the building elevator of his office in the Sami Solh region. The plate turned out to belong to a Hizbullah member who was called in for questioning, but refused, the An Nahar daily said.

BEIRUT: MP Butros Harb hailed Friday Lebanon’s judiciary after Military Prosecutor Saqr Saqr charged a Hezbollah member with the June 2012 attempt on his life. “Finally, justice has triumphed over politics and arms and over political pressure that was being exerted by Hezbollah,” Harb told The Daily Star.
