Amnesty International - UK terror laws are wrong

Amnesty International UK director Kate Allen said the UK's anti-terror measures are "plain wrong". Her comments follow the publication of a report into Belmarsh detainees by the Council of Europe's Committee for the Prevention of Torture.


Ms Allen urged the Government to "listen to these voices of reason". She added: "It's a shameful state of affairs when the UK stands condemned for inhuman and degrading treatment.

"Amnesty International continues to call on the authorities to repeal the Prevention of Terrorism Act 2005 and to implement an absolute ban on the use of torture 'evidence'".
