Muslim Threat 'Exceeds Third Reich'

So spoke Dr. Paul L. Williams, former consultant to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation at a seminar in New York. The seminar was organized by Indian American Intellectuals Forum headed by Hindu leader Narian Kataria, according to Rediff.com India Limited (http://us.rediff.com/news/2005/dec/07fbi.htm?q=np&file). Williams stated that "the threat posed by radical Islam far exceeds the Third Reich." He considers it then a "huge threat to humanity.

Williams explained that America has considered itself a safe environs due to large oceans on either side of the country. But now America realizes that those bodies of water will not protect the nation from Islamic fanatics who want to destroy the republic.

He elaborated by stating that Americans have believed for years that "terrorism was something that occurred overseas. . ." However, now the US realizes that terrorism can occur in their own streets. This was depicted in a ShowTime TV series, "Sleeper Cells," with the first showing Sunday, December 4. That movie uncovers what can happen in a free society when sleeper cells circulate throughout the neighborhoods. Williams underlined that he believes Americans are not aware of the danger in their midst.

Author Williams has written on the Islamic subject, particularly the dimension of terrorism. He informed the seminar attendees that "there were about 5,000 al Qaeda operatives in American mosques plotting another September 11, 2001-style attack."

"A nuclear attack on the United States is imminent," he said, citing the statements of President Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney during the presidential election campaign last year.


Further, Williams stated that Muslim leadership worldwide are paying moneys to "individuals who can influence decisions in their favor."

At the same time that Williams presents his perspective in Manhattan, certain Islamic leaders gathered to plan what they state is a "moderate Islamic" image to the world, as reported by Dawn.com (http://dawn.com/2005/12/06/top4.htm ).

Image is everything to the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) which met in Saudi Arabia. One hopes that it ends up to be more than image. The peace world has been waiting for substance, not image. We have had it with bloody images; we need something from the Muslim leadership global that secures us in the confidence that there really are "moderate Muslims" who believe in keeping the civility.

"Leaders of the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) meet later this week in Saudi Arabia to restore a moderate image of Islam, harmed by terror attacks carried out by extremists. The aim of the two-day summit starting on Wednesday 'is to restore the image of Islam, harmed by terrorist attacks carried out in the name of this righteous religion,' Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal said Sunday.

"Two documents reinforcing Islam's moderate image will be submitted to the summit to be held in the Muslim holy city of Makkah, said OIC spokesman Atta al-Mannan. Leaders will receive a report drafted by a committee of top Islamic figures set up in 2003 as well as a report from a meeting of Muslim scholars and intellectuals held in Makkah in September.

"The two documents are to lay the foundations for 'a moderate and enlightened Islamic line of conduct in order to confront extremism in and against Islam,' said Mannan."

The summit will then agree on two documents: the "Mecca Declaration" which contains "'the true principles and common vision of a moderate Islam, and the Programme of action to modernise the Organisation of the Islamic Conference. The challenges concern politics, media, economics, technology, as well as Islamic thought and culture,' he added."

Meanwhile, the world waits.
