הבדלים תרבותיים - תדריך של מיקרוסופט לעובדיה שנוסעים לארץ
איתי בראון הוא עובד של מיקרוסופט באנגליה. הוא פרסם בבלוג שלו את תוכן התדריך שקיבל:
General Cultural Tips
Conversations with Israelis will take place at a much closer physical distance than in the West. Stepping back from your counterpart may be regarded as unfriendly. A warm handshake is an appropriate greeting, and a smile at initial contact is important. Israelis are accepting of many different cultural customs and languages, and they welcome questions about their country. Avoid the topics of politics and religion. Conversation in Israel is candid, informal, and forthright. If asked a question you would rather not answer, give a vague but polite response. Conservative and modest dress is necessary, especially in traditional areas. Any gesture displaying an extended thumb is offensive throughout the Middle East. For hitchhiking, the extender index is used.
Though punctuality is not a key value in Israel, foreigners should arrive to appointments on time. Interruptions are common during business meetings. Your host may take calls and allow others into the office during your meeting. Business dress is less formal than Westerners are accustomed to at home. Men should wear slacks with a shirt and tie, while women are expected to wear a blouse with either slacks or a skirt. Business operates at a slower pace in Israel than it does in the West. http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/...out-israel.aspx
