BEIRUT: The Army released two Palestinians arrested over the launching of two rockets at Beirut’s southern suburbs, media reports said Thursday.
The reports added that the released were the brother and brother-in-law of Palestinian Ahmad Taha, suspected of being involved in launching two rockets at the Beirut southern suburb of Shiyah in May, an attack which wounded four Syrians.
Taha remains at large. The Central News Agency reported that the two were handed over by the Hamas Movement to Army Intelligence Wednesday night.
The CNA said Taha’s brother-in-law lives in the Palestinian refugee camp of Rashidieh near Tyre.
Ali Barakeh, the representative of Hamas in Lebanon, denied to a media outlet that Ahmad Taha was a member of Hamas.
“He is a Palestinian national and he should be held accountable if he committed a crime,” Taha said. “I stress that Hamas has no military structure in Lebanon.”
