ישודרגו משמעותית יכולות החבלה של חטיבות החי"ר הסדירות - זאת, במטרה למצמצם את תלותן בכוחות הנדסה מקצועיים של חיל ההנדסה הקרבית. במסגרת התוכנית החדשה, יורחב פרק הזמן המוקדש להכשרת כוחות ההנדסה הפועלים כחלק מהחטיבות. בתום שירותם הצבאי הסדיר, יוכפפו הלוחמים לגדודי הנדסה במילואים.
כחלק מיישום הלקחים מהמלחמה האחרונה בלבנון, מבקשים בחיל ההנדסה הקרבית לשפר את יכולותיהם של כוחות החי"ר הסדירים להתמודדות עם מכשולים הנדסיים שבהם הם עלולים להיתקל במהלך פעילות מבצעית.
לדברי גורמים בחיל, המטרה העומדת מאחורי המהלך הרחב הנה לאפשר ללוחמים לבצע בשטח משימות הנדסיות, ללא התערבות של גדודי הנדסה סדירים או של יחידת ההנדסה למשימות מיוחדות (יהל"ם), כפי שמתרחש כיום.
חיזוק יכולות ההנדסה צפוי להתבצע ראשית באמצעות הארכת הזמן המוקדש להכשרת לוחמי החי"ר בבית-הספר להנדסה צבאית (בהל"ץ). כך למשל, יאריכו כל חטיבות החי"ר את הכשרתן של פלוגות ההנדסה (פלחה"ן) השייכות לגדודי הסיור השונים, ואת משך הסמכתן של מחלקות החבלה השייכות לפלוגות החוד בגדודים הסדירים.
פרק נוסף בתהליך נוגע לשיבוצם של חיילי פלחה"ן ומחלקות החבלה בגדודי הנדסה במילואים, בתום שירותם הצבאי הסדיר. באמצעות צעד זה, הסבירו השבוע בחיל ההנדסה הקרבית, שואפים לחזק את מערך המילואים של החיל, הסובל כיום משיבוץ לוחמים שלא הוכשרו לרמת כשירות הנדסית (פלס) מספקת.
"כיום, קיימים בגדודי החי"ר גופים שמוסמכים לעסוק בחבלה, ועלינו מוטלת המשימה להמשיך לשאוף לחידודן של היכולות המקצועיות שלהם", ציין רע"ן מקצועות בבהל"ץ, סא"ל איציק דדון. "מטרתנו העיקרית היא לסייע לחטיבות החי"ר הסדירות להתמודד עם מצבים שמתרחשים בזמן אמת, כמו גדוד שמתחיל תנועה לעבר יעד מסוים ונתקל במכשול הנדסי. אנחנו רוצים שיהיה ביכולתו להתמודד עם הבעיה בכוחות עצמו, ושלא יעמוד ויחכה לכוח הנדסה מקצועי שיוזעק במיוחד למקום".
סא"ל דדון הוסיף, כי עיקר ההכשרה של יחידות החי"ר יתרכז בהתמודדות עם מוקשים נגד טנקים ואדם, עם זיהוי מטענים ועם חבלה זעירה.

יש הרבה שיגידו שמסלול ארוך הוא לא בהכרח פתרון...למה אתם ישר מגיבים ככה ?

מסלול קצר = יותר סד"כ.
זו גם הסיבה שבנו את הגדס"רים בצורה שהם נבנו.

אבל תכל'ס - לא ברור שפלח"ניסטים צריכים להיות מוכשרים לעבודה שלהם? לא צריך שחיילי חבלה יהיו מוכשרים לעבודה שלהם? אחרת למה בכלל מחזיקים אותם?

כמישהו שמיועד לפלחה"ן גבעתי אני יכול להגיד שמסלול יותר ארוך זה באסה..
וחוץ מזה..לדעתי עדיף לעשות הכשרות יותר ייעודיות..פחות ניווטים ושטויות אחרות ויותר דברים של הנדסה וחבלה ככה אולי לא צריך להאריך מסלול..

עד להיום (או שבועים אחרונים יותר נכון) לא נערכו כלל וכלל אימוני נ"ט (עד 7 שנים לאחור) וזאת אחת הסיבות שלא השתמשו בהם במלחמה

חבל שלצבא קשה להבין שחסרה כשירות מבצעית ויעודית למרבית היחידות

אני לא יודע לגבי הפלנ"ט של החטיבות הסדירות (חוץ מגבעתי שהשאירו מאחור מתנה)
אבל אני יודע המילואים עשו עבודה מצויינת....

רוב המילואים משוחררים כבר שנים לא מעטות - החבר'ה אלה עברו מסלול ארוך (שנה ו-8), עברו תקופות אימונים משמעותיות בשירות הסדיר שלהם והם אנשי מילואים ובכך יש להם יתרון טבעי על סדירים.
