יכול להיות שעלות פלאטופ היא פי 1000 מעלות של אמ-16?
לצורך העניין חבר שלי שכבר התגייס טוען שהאמ-16 נמכר לישראל בדולר והפלאטופ ב1000 דולר
ובגלל זה לא הגיוני שמאוגוסט יוחלפו הנשקים...

זה לא נשמע לי הגיוני שיש הרבה מאוד פלאטופים בצבא שלנו וכל אחד מהם עולה 1000 דולר..
זה יוצא הרבה מאוווד כסף..שלצבא שלנו אין כל כך הרבה כסף..
ד"א גם אני שמעתי שאמ 16 ארוך עולה דולר אז זה אולי נכון אבל בקשר לפלאטופ שעולה 1000 דולר אני לא חושב..

אבל תחשוב שיש לנו מקוצרים גם, וכו'.

כן.. בארה"ב כמעט כל החיילים גם המובחרים מקבלים ארוך.. אז זה אומר שהוא טוב.. אז למה צהל מחלק רק מקוצרים מה אנחנו רואים שהם לא רואים? אני מבין שזה בגלל שאנחנו נלחמים בשטח בנוי וקטן וזה מסורבל ללכת עם הארוך ולא נוח אבל גם האמריקאים נלחמים בעירק בשטח בנוי ולהם יש ארוך. למה זה?

רוב הלחימה אצלינו היא בשטחים "סגורים": כלים ממוגנים ורק"מ, שטח בנוי, שטח סבוך, בולדרים.

אנחנו נלחמים באופן כללי בטווחים קצרים - פחות מ-300 מטר.
האמריקאים פועלים בסוגים שונים של תנאי שטח, ובד"כ בטווחים ארוכים יותר - עד 500 מטר ואפילו יותר. מכיוון שהם צריכים להיות מוכנים לכל סוגי הלחימה והשטח, הארוך נותן להם מענה טוב יותר.

באמת עד לכניסה שלהם עם עיראק כמעט כל החיילים שלהם הלכו עם ארוך (חוץ מיחידות שהתמחו בלוחמה בשטח בנוי).
אבל בשנה שנתיים האחרונות הרבה יותר יחידות שפתאום התחילו להתעסק בלוחמה בטווחים קרובים החלו להסב את הנשקים שלהם מארוך לקצר.
