עמירם לוין אמנם פיקד על חטיבת שריון, אך ידוע בתחום הפעולות המיוחדות. לכן מוזר להציבו בתפקיד מפקד גיס. סביר יותר שחיפשו יועץ במיל' למפקד הפיקוד (כמו יום טוב סמיה), וכל האלופים ה"טריים" יותר עדיין במערכת (גבי אשכנזי, בני גנץ- חוץ מאודי אדם..).

מעטים המפקדים בצבא המתאימים לפקד על גיס יותר ממנו מבחינה זאת. גם הבנה של החי"ר והכוחות המיוחדים, וגם ניסיון רב ומשמעותיבפיקוד על עוצבות משורינות.

לעצם הידיעה מדובר לדעתי בברוז עיתונאי. האלוף שוחח עם עמירם. לא נאמר שעמירם הסכים, שהרמטכ"ל אישר ושהתקן קיים בכלל. מלחמות הגנרלים של יום כיפור לימדו שלא כדאי להוריד בתפקיד מפקדים בעלי ניסיון בגלל הקושי לקבל מרות ולשמור על שרשרת פיקוד תקינה.

גיס היא המסגרת מעל לאוגדה. גיס ינהל לחימה של כמה אוגדות. בארץ בדרך כלל הגיס יקבל חזית לחימה אחת.

לשאלתך - הדבר תלוי במספר גורמים ובראש ובראשונה, בגזרת הלחימה.
בא נתאר מצב בו יש לחימה במקביל בגזרת לבנון ורמת הגולן יחד עם פגיעה מסיבית בעורף באיזור הצפון.
במצב זה, פיקוד צפון צריך לשלוט בשתי גזרות ובשטח העורף שלו. על מנת למנוע מצב בו הפיקוד צריך לשלוט במקביל במהלכים טקטיים של אוגדות רבות ונפרדות, ניתן לתת לכל גיס, חזית אחת. בצורה כזו, אתה יוצר הפרדה שמקטינה את העומס על הפיקוד - במקום לשלוט במהלכים של 6,7,10 אוגדות נפרדות ועוד כוחות רבים אחרים, הפיקוד עכשיו רק מציב את היעדים בפני הגיס והגיס מנהל את הלחימה.

בהתחלה אלוף הפיקוד (גורודיש) פיקד על 3 האוגדות (ברן, שרון, מנדלר) ישירות,
כשהסתבר לרמטכ"ל שהוא לא עושה זאת טוב מונה האלוף (מיל.) בר-לב ל-"מפקד חזית הדרום"
וגורודיש פיקד על הכוחות בגיזרת התעלה- מעשית הוא היה מפקד גיס.

1.אם פיקוד יכול להחליט שבאיזור שלו יש שתי חזיתות שמשתרעות על עשרות/מאות קילומטרים וכדי להתמודד מול האויב בחזיתות הוא צריך כח של יותר משלושה-ארבעה אוגדות או שיש לו חזית אחת עם כוחות אויב רבים אז למה במלחמת יום הכיפורים נלחמו כוחות מעטים יחסית בכל חזית?

למשל כנגד הסורים נשלחו שלושה אוגדות משורינות, מס' מועט של חטיבות חי"ר וקני ארטילריה בניגוד לסורים שלחמו עם כוחות גדולים הרבה יותר.

1. הפיקוד לא מחליט מה סדר הכוחות שלו. עם זאת, זה לא כ"כ משנה מה סדר הכוחות אלא מהי חלוקת הקשב הנדרשת. הבעיה היא השליטה במבצעים המתבצעים בכל חזית בנפרד ותיאום בין האוגדות הלוחמות השונות. לשאלתך, זה כבר נוגע לסדרי העדיפויות בחלוקת המשאבים בין רמה"ג וחזית הדרום בדרג המטכ"לי, וכמות היחידות הזמינות בכל זמן ללחימה.

2. לא. מדובר ביחידת לחימה יבשתית. האחריות היא של הפיקוד במקרה זה.

לרג'ימנט יש מספר מובנים, בהתאם לצבא וליחידות. בחלק מהמקרים מדובר על חטיבה, באחרים מדובר על אגד (סיירים משוריינים בארה"ב, SAS, הנדסה בצבא בריטניה וכו').

הדוגמא שהבאתי רק באה להמחיש שבאף שלב של הלחימה במלחמת יום הכיפורים לא היה סד"כ שעולה על שלושה-ארבעה אוגדות (לפחות בחזית הצפון, בדרום אני לא יודע) למרות שחזית הלחימה השתרעה על שטח גדול וכללה כוחות שעולים בהרבה על כוחות צה"ל.

אז למה צריך גיס אם במילא מושלכות לחזית מס' קטן של אוגדות? אני מתייחס רק לישראל ולא לצבאות אחרים.

במלחמת לבנון הראשונה הופעלו הרבה יותר אוגדות, יחד עם אוגדות שהיו בכוננות מול סוריה בגולן.
השאלה הנשאלת כמובן היא מה קורה כאשר פיקוד צפון צריך לשלוט על 3 אוגדות ברמת הגולן, ואוגדה אחת בדרום לבנון, יחד עם יחידות עצמאיות נוספות. איך שולטים על כל הכוח והגזרה? פשוט מאוד - נותנים למפקד גיס את הפיקוד על רמת הגולן, והנה - הפיקוד עובד מול 2 מפקדים - מפקד גיס ומפקד אוגדה.
הפונקציה היא מה אנחנו רוצים שהפיקוד יעשה. אנחנו לא רוצים שהפיקוד יתעסק בניהול הלחימה בשתי חזיתות.

הבנתי את העניין. פשוט לא הבנתי למה צריך גיסות אם במילא משליכים מס' מועט של אוגדות לחזית.
אז אם במלחמת לבנון היו כוחות בדרום לבנון וגם ברמת הגולן (דבר שהצריך גיסות), אז למה לא העבירו לרמת הגולן ולסיני יותר כוחות משלושה אוגדות שיריון וקצת חי"ר ותותחנים לכל חזית?

לא היה? אז אם במלחמת יום כיפור היו בערך שישה אוגדות שיריון+כמה אוגדות חי"ר, הנדסה, תותחנים, אז כמה היו במלחמת לבנון, בתקופת השהיה בלבנון וכמה נשאר עכשיו אחרי כל הקיצוצים וההשתמטות מהמילואים?
