Despite what is written in the linked thread, I believe that the Dragon missle entered IDF service in the Infantry battalion AT platoons sometime
after the 73 war and 1975.
I was told it replaced the jeep-mounted 106mm recoiless rifles which had been in this role beforehand. -- I'm sure that the
vatikim of the 8 were broken-hearted when they had to part from the jeeps
I heard from the vatikim that had been in Golani during the 82 war that it's first and only IDF operational usage was (at least until that house in Bet-Jala in 2000) when they used it to blow up some airliners sitting in Beirut airport. Not a bad exchange rate -- a "Jumbo" for the price of a "Subaru"
Like was already mentioned there, the Dragon was replaced in this role at the end of the 90s by the Gil.
I fired my last Dragon in Nov-Dec of 1998
