It looks like the numbers are drawn out of the air. Clerical and process errors were blamed.
The program will be jointly produced (after competition) by at least two giants, and the upgrades awarded later after more competition.
Price hike per unit of 500$M without development costs to 800$M with dev costs.
So yeah, not as bad as the JSF, but more fun is expected.

We can expect another huge program that is delayed and runs way over budget.
Unlike the JSF, the LRS-B program has strategic importance.
The US defence procurement is a broken system.
