New Book: Spitfire Mk.IX in IAF service
Happy Hannuka to all.
I hope that this book will be of interest to some of you.
This first book from White Crow Publications concentrates on covering the service history of the Spitfire Mk.IX with the Israeli air force from 1948 to 1956. The softbound book contains 152 pages and include 366 photos, of which many are from privet albums and never have been seen before, sixteen pages of color art work (59 color profiles in total).
The book is organized in eleven chapters, which cover the first Spitfires, operations Velveta I and II, operations during the War of Independents with 101 Sqn, clashing with the RAF, REAF Spitfires, service after the war with 105 and 107 Squadrons, The Burmese sale, retirement, survivors, Camouflage and markings, individual histories and general data regarding the service of the Spitfire with the Israeli air force. The book is based on seventeen years of research.
This first publication will be followed by another six books that will cover the service history of the Avia S-199, B-17, P-51 Mustang, DH Mosquito, Harvard and Piper Cub with the Israeli air force.
The book will be at the stores by February 2006.
PS: the Avia book is in the works, and some art work from the Piper Cub book.
