הנשק הוא הסבה "תוצרת בית" של מקלעון אוסטרלי L1A2 (מבוסס FAL), שאליו מחובר קנה מקוצר של FAL רגיל (וגם בוכנת הגזים קוצרה, ככל הנראה) ומטול אמריקאי נסיוני XM148. המחסנית, אגב, גם לא מקורית - זהו מחסנית של מקלע ברן מסדרת L4 .

אין מה לפרט מעבר לדבריך - הנשק היה בשימושה יחידת SASR - יחידת הSAS האוסטרלית - בעת פריסתה בוייטנאם. הנה צוות של היחידה לאחר מבצע. מעניין שהלוחם השמאלי מצוייד בM16 ארוך עם M203, שילוב שנכנס לשימוש כוחות ארה"ב בשלב מאוחר של המלחמה וכמעט לא הגיע לידי בעלות בריתה.

מה שלא פחות מעניין שכל הלוחמים בתמונה מצוידים בנשק עם מטול.
מאוד מזכיר את הספר של מקנב: מתוך כוח של 8, 4 היו עם מטולם ו 4 עם מינימי

שים לב שכל נשק שונה - מימין לשמאל:

אותה חברה שרכשה זיכיון ליצור M-16 בתקופת מלחמת וייטנאם?
לא ידעתי שיש לה גם פיתוחים עצמאיים....

I don't think that H&R actually did any serious gun designing - just imported the weapon from the German company to submit as a competitor to the AR15/M16 and called it T223. The HK33 is basically just a shrunken 5.56 version of the G3.

In the 50s they did the same thing with the FN FAL so they could enter it as the T48 into competition against the winning T44 which became the M14. I think that H&R also was also one of the several subcontractors that also previously manufactured M1 Garands and M14s and later the M16A1s.

BTW, the first M16A1 that I was ever issued in reserves when we converted from the Galil was built by H&R. It was apparently an early model that didn't even have the trap door in the buttstock - and worse, it jammed all the time!

Prototypes of the HK 33 first appear. H&R imports a small number and manages to have them included in the SAWS program. H&R marks these rifles as the T223.
