כל קצין מוכשר להכווין סיוע ברמה בסיסית. כל מש"ק אמור להיות מסוגל להכווין לפחות מרגמות ומסק"רים.
נוסף על כך, אנשי סיור צריכים להיות מסוגלים להכווין את כל סוגי הסיוע אש. בסופו של דבר קש"א יש אחד בגדוד והוא בד"כ לא רואה את המטרות.
אם להשוות - בצבא ארה"ב יש חוליית הכוונה בכל פלוגה, ובנוסף, ישנם מכווינים בכל אחת מהמחלקות.
