By Yuval Azoulay, Haaretz Correspondent
An unidentified assailant threw a firebomb at a synagogue on Yehoshua Bin Nun Street in Ramle on Saturday night. There were no casualties but minor damage was caused to the synagogue's from door.
There were no worshippers in the building at the time of the attack. An eyewitness called police to the scene. Officer began collecting accounts of the incident in an effort to track down the assailants.
Police were not able on Saturday night to elaborate on the background of the attack.
"We are examining the incident from all possible angles," said Chief Superintendent Yigal Hadad, commander of the Ramle police station. "We have a number of possible tacks at this point but we are checking everything."
Police described the incident as serious.
"We will make every effort to track down the individual who threw this firebomb. This is a very serious incident and it's lucky it ended with only light damage," Hadad said.
